We boarded the fast ferry to Haines Monday afternoon and were once again blessed with amazing sunny weather on the 45 minute journey through the Lynn Canal, one of the longest and deepest fjords in North America. We saw whales again and epic views of tall peaks rising straight out of the water.
In Haines, we walked to the brewery, which is housed in part of the old set from the movie White Fang. A generously bearded Paul Wheeler poured our beers and expounded on beer and the Alaska brewing community. Paul and his wife Jeanne Kitayama founded Haines Brewing Company in 1999 and have eight beers currently on tap.
Paul, his wife and assistant brewer Beth were gracious and helpful hosts and, after our photo shoot, we basked in the sun on the wood boardwalk and drank beer until we had to catch our flight back to Juneau.
